EXHIBITIONS IN PROGRESS DURING THE QUIMPER FESTIVAL

MUSEE DE BEAUX ARTS

As a sequel to the Maxime MAUFRA exhibition in 1997, this year's exhibition focuses on the work of a landscape painter who figures among the most famous of the Pont Aven school: Henry MORET ( 1856 - 1913 ) 50 paintings from 20 private collections in France, Great Britain, and Switzerland are on show.

MUSEE DEPARTEMENTAL BRETON

You may have already come across the Breton sailor's Almanach? (The "Almanach du marin breton".) It was written by Jacques de THEZAC (1862-1936) who in 1900 published also a profoundly original work called the "Abris du Marin". His aim was to study, to research, and to implement a strategy to improve the physical and psychological lot of the fishermen, and in particular to combat alcoholism. The exhibition presents this philanthropist's life and projects, and his passion for photography, in a highly individual style with photography and other exhibits interspersed to recreate the long-lost ambiance of the Abris du Marin.

CENTRE D'ART CONTEMPORAIN DE QUIMPER, "LE QUARTIER"

"LE QUARTIER HOMERE", by Noël DOLLA This exhibition displays some of DOLLA's very latest, and still unpublished work, among other less recent creations. Five rooms testify to the wide diversity of DOLLA's work, using different media and materials with colour and assorted themes, like smoke, wax, and laundry, as vehicles for his special brand of abstract art.
