Of Tour of Brittany of Costumes
Sunday, 28, thousands of spectators follow the « Disguised » procession, and they weren't disappointed. The festival offered a real « Tro Breiz », a tour through Brittany with costumes and music. 2000 peoplein traditional costume and more than 500 singers paraded through the dtreets of Quimper giving great pleasure to both the eyes and the ears. The procession was rich in colour and in bagpipes groups. The linking together of the different groups was a lot quicker than other years. In conclusion, the spectator didn't have the time to get bored.
Summer University : Lorient
Due to an intelligent agreement with the summer university in Lorient, the Festival gave a new depth to its normal summer activities.
The numbers had dropped, evenings seem to be the only time to learn. Guy Riou and Jacques-Yves Le-Touze believe, however in the future, and think things will improve.
A competition of Creativity in Quimper
Certain hope that the national bagpipe competition (which takes place at the interceltic Festival of Lorient) will be revolving. This is not the opinion of Alan Buhé, the national President of « Bagadeg ar Sonerien », who never misses a trip to the Festivalevery year. He believes interest in the competition can still be roused. Perhaps another competition, more creativity, less traditional.
Twinned Towns in the First Rank
During the Festival of Cornouaille it is tradition to invite the Maires of the twinned towns.
Kieran O'Hallon from Limerick, Reinhard Ulbrischon from Remscheid; who were both very happy with this reunion, and said that relations with Remscheid go back a quarter of a century. For 1997, it was announced a multi-cultural Festival would be on the cards.
Eimear Quinn : Diwait Bugale was my favourite
Saturday afternoon, after a few hours of concert, Eimear Quinn from the imaginaire Irlandais still didn't know if she would sing « Diwanit Bugleé » or not. John McGlynn the organiser, even took the decision to erase it from the programme. Being ill, the singer didn't have enough time to learn it in Breton. After being given strong medication, the singer was given a phonetic version of the song. This she memorised, and did them proud. The friendly letter from Dan Ar Braz, convinced the singer that there was no way they could have scrapped the song from the programme.
Petitions against the torture in Spain
The support committee for those accussed a right to asilumn chose to set up stall in Saint-Corentin to ask the numerous visitors to sign the petition regarding the awful tortures against the bascque refugees and those receiving expulsion to France.
L'Imaginaire Irlandais in front of 4000 people around « Chiur Anuna ».
The Imaginaire Irlandais evening produced by the brothers John and Micha'l McGlynn, offered an act from « Riverdance », by La Lugh duo playing, the De Jimbe percussions, the Ceide dancers, the duo Steve Cooney and Seamus Begley, Chiur Anuna.
A mixture of nature and charm, the joy of life and spirituality, beautifully interpreted and in French. The best moments, typically Irish, offered by La Lugh duo and Cooney and Begley.
