« With Gérard, everything is a bit scarce »
Well, the first childrens' show given yesterday afternoon at the theatre in Quimper in Corouaille by Gérard Delahaye is over. It is rare to see such human joy after listening to someone singing. After a display; lasting one and a quarter hours the children left still overjoyed, and still under the charm of the songs, and of his acts on stage. With just his guitar and his violin, Gérard Delahaye brought the children to life with his musical rythmn and magic spots, his gags : all making up a totally amazing one-man show.
Old Quartiers : A pleasant atmosphere on a summer evening
After a fully charged week, Quimper calmed down a bit last night, stopping for a breath of fresh air in the shade of her old quartiers. Between Mesgloaguen and Buerre Squre, about
10 000 are just taking their time. Just like in the old days. A pleasant atmosphere on a summer evening.
The « Neuf Tribus » play their original instruments.
Thursday evening, musicians and singers of the Neuf Tribus gave their concert at the «Chapeau-Rouge » car park. The concert was perhaps a bit forgotten bythe public, with only about fifty people turning up. The playing of the somewhat different instruments made this concert a slightly different one from the norm.
Festival in the Town
For the past twelve years Serge Duigou has guided those interested in the different suroundings and in the past. Each time with a different itinary, he helps them to discover the area of Cornouaille, whether it be along the sea coast, castles, woods and art galleries. Friday, 55 people got the chance to visit the « Maison du littoral à Trégunc », the Saint-Philibert Chapel and Nizon.
A well targeted Festival
For the past seven years the Ceili pub has organised a big darts tournement. It will take place at the Omnisports room. Open to all, permit-holders or not. During the first year, there was 80 people interested, but due to lotsof work, the following year this figure had doubled This Festival tournement is one of the top six in France.
And to Saint Patrick :
If St Patricks Day is celebrated more in France than in Ireland, it is thanks to the numerous twinnings between the Brittany and France. « Before, the 17 March was never celebrated, except perhaps fora couple of churches in Brittany. », remembers Polig Monjarret, leader of the project which brings Brittany and France closer together. St Patricks' day is celebrated more in chapels than in churches.....
Wednesday evening, the absence of the hommage of the singers at Glenmor surprised the public. Six feet underground, or they have perhaps gone to guitarists heaven, Milig would perhaps be the only one to not be surprised. A career dating back forty years, he hasn't once been invited to the Festival of Cornouaille. The bard was judged too much trouble.
Borders of Salt
Dan ar Braz is taking a few days off. He is taking a trip on a yacht out to the Glénan islands. Dan is never too far away from the salt borders.
The brave warriors of the An Dal Cuinn Clan bring back to mind the misfortunes by waving a three coloured Irish flag. The anacronism of the display surprised Gilles Servat :
« An Irish flag in the middle ages? Strange. » The independence of the Eire and her flag date back to 1921.
Guess Who's Coming Tonight??!!
Wednesday evening, the interuption by Dan ar Braz of Gilles Servats' concert was a bit scary. It was Servat himself who gave the explanation : « I was so absorbed by the concert that I didn't expect the arrival of Dan at that precise moment. On my notes « DAB » was written, and I didn't understand the sign. »
It's obvious. If DAB usually means, « Automatic Distribution of Tickets », and they are also the initials of Dan Ar Braz, it might not be so easy to guess. Since money has become part of show-business, everything's become a bit confused.
