5600 meals at the Festival restaurant
Over the course of the week, Daniel Lescurat will be serving 5600 meals to the festival goers. I have ordered seven tonnes of merchandise. It's routine for me. For three years now I have seen varied folk groups and organisers. The owner of the "Likès" keeps a cool head and a smile on his face even when people come and ask something of him at 11.30pm! Just before he stops after the lunch-time rush, he even takes time out to give you the menu for the week. Wednesday? Royal couscous. Sunday? At lunch-time, cold meat platter, roast chicken, cheese board and apple tart. And yes!! Here you get cheese And pudding!!
Planxty
Take Scol Ut Ruaire from Limerick, join it to up to the musicians from the four corners of Ireland and you have Planxty O'Rourke. These musicians are often national champions for various instruments, have a reutation in France going back to 1968. "In promoting the culture of our country we reach our number one goal." Aswell as Aedin and Una (singers and dancers), Planxty O'Rourke also includes John Cosgrove, Mairéea Nt Brhriain, Lorraine Duffy, Edel Ryan, Anthony Deady, Tim Scanlon and Seamus Mac Mahon.
The "off" has been dealt a varied hand
The "off" festival presents this Wednesday 24th, three groups in the bars who are participating in the operation. "Zone Bleue" will open the evening with "Petit Zinc" from 9.30pm. A meeting between the public and the singers, not to be missed!!-afterall, is it not simply poetry that has been slightly lifted from the texsts??Then, we completely change the menu!-with "Feast of friends" at the "Clipperton" from 9.30pm. Heavy metal by four young people from Pont-L'Abbé plus a choir member. Finally, Kern will be at the "Blue Note" from 9.30pm to sing texts which have certainly been strongly influenced by the Breton culture, but also other types of musoc, eg, jazz, classical and hard rock.
Ca a zouké at Charly's
Be prepared for a torrid atmosphere at Charly's, Monday evening!! 10.30pm, Marc, the singer from Planète Zouk will be calling out to customers from the bar, "OK, you can all listen to the music here, but really you're meant to be dancing!!Come on girls! What do you think about it? You blokes sitting politiely on your stools - what are you waiting for? You can see they're only asking to dance." It's started. Nothing more than that is needed to get them started! "zouk cadence" has really got going. Yanise, the singer of the group, dances well on the stage, as much as is needed to get the exact sound. Philippe on the drums, and the one ith the smile. David on the base asks for a bottle of water. "HOT, HOT atmosphere.". Those who stayed at their stools move their shoulders about and nod their heads along to the rhythm. Zouker, Zouker. Agood atmosphere assured!!!!
