The setting of the festival is the ancient town of Quimper with its' wooden faced houses which overlook the two granite towers of the gothic style St-Corentin (Breton Bishop of the VIth century) Cathedral. |
The festival allows young people aswell as passing through tourists to learn about the art, traditions, and costumes of the Breton country. This lady from Quimper is showing the little girl the art of Breton embroidery. |
Monday, 22, 9.30pm. For a week, Quimper will be transformed into the singing and dancing capital of Britanny. People will be coming from far afield this summer, to listen to, see and appreciate the secular repertoire. |
Monday, 22, 10pm.The open air amphithéatre in Quimper packed with emotion. as the young children from the DIWAN ("growth" in Breton) schools, sing and dance with a spirit full of faith in the future of their culture. |
