ARMEN
Brittany, a land to discover
THE LIVING ENCYCLOPAEDIA ON BRITTANY AND THE CELTIC COUNTRIES
Brittany : a land of history, legends and traditions, with a living and many-sided civilization, with a modern human and economic fabric and a remarkably contrasting natural heritage. To all this ArMen prefers the authentic and actual features of Brittany : a new and different approach emphasizing all the charm of this land.
Salted butter or the traditional kig ha fars meal or even simply the Breton language are only a few of the aspects of everyday Breton culture which ArMen means to fight for and preserve, with the aim to make readers get to know and appreciate the Breton heritage.
Archeology is definitely essential for the history of Brittany as it regularly informs of, and highlights, features of bygone eras. Archeology, however, is seldom within reach of the larger public ; as a remedy for this, ArMen publishes the studies carried out by scientists, in an educational and attractive form.
In every issue, ArMen introduces a skill, a company, a craftsman. From Bolloré Technologies to the brewer of barley, they all figure the reality of this land. Leading artists, such as Monet, Picasso, have also come to Brittany and brought their own bit of history. Still today, Brittany is a source of inspiration for artists, whether Breton or not, whether famous or not.
Every summer, thousands of people from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Cornwall or Galicia join together in Brittany's big festivals. Every year also, thousands of Bretons cross the Channel to meet their celtic "cousins". ArMen also treats of all the aspects of this fascinating North-Western world.
