La rue des Gentilshommes (Street of gentlemen)
Street quiet, apart from the business centre. There one may find wealthy private mansions from the
XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries, urban houses with a facade on street without any garden. Nobility and the noblesse de Robe
were also owners of manors around Quimper, they lived there a part of the year.
It is said that in the XVIIth century, the Nobility got into debt in order to cut a figure in society in Versailles and the
gentlemen so indebted to the shopkeepers from the rue Kéréon did not dare
to go in the street and took the parallel street .... la rue des Gentilshommes !
