La place au Beurre (Butter Square)

It was originally the "place aux Ruches" (square with Hives), because a renowned honey was sold there. Then the square was named "place au Beurre de Pot" (square with butter of pot) salted butter sold in stoneware pots with handles called "poudiers", made in the district of Locmaria.

This modest district is transformed when the Jesuit school is built. Booksellers, bookbinders and printers settle there. It is now a popular district very busy, many buildings have been recently restored and several shops linked with tourism have been established here. The atmosphere is very colourful during summer months. The musical publishers "Keltia Musique" have there a prosperous business, they produce and promote .
